Hey Oresus, you do realize that nobody, demon or otherwise, has "moved forward through the remains of the door", right? Monkey's post just has everyone taking cover outside the door, still. Not that it would matter much in this case, seeing as the return fire has us pinned anyway (we'd have to fall back if we really were advancing, so same result), but just be careful how you interpret other people's posts.

Whoa... Monkey's been on a roll! ;D I go to sleep after posting last night, only to wake up and find you and Oresus have been posting back and forth, like, five to six times! You're like a living fire-and-forget weapon - just point you at the enemy and wait for the fireworks! Of course, that leaves me to figure out a valid excuse for not being in the thick of the fighting with you, and "But Monkey went on a rampage while I was asleep" doesn't cut it.

Suffice it to say, I have absolutely no clue what has happened. I will try to read through what I can in the mean time, but enough information for me to kind of sink back in would be nice.

Didn't expect you to. Suffice it to say, you've really missed out. As for the data, that's even better! We hacked the computer, purged all UNSC data from the system, and even got a bit of Covie intel out as well (although not much).

The threat of the information falling into Covvies hands is not extinguished:

Shri T'ova stood at the helm of the bridge and oversaw the repair work and security details. All of this for the sake of the human data. Shri had the original copy still uploaded to his personal net. However, several copies had been made and distributed to ensure the greatest possible ability for the data to survive and make it to the Prophets.

The only problem was that the data upon each copying had exponentially more corruptions imbued in the human code. The list of copies from most perfect copy to least perfect copy follows:

Executive Officer, Shri T'ova

Pious Charity Internal Systems Drive

Cleric of Piety

Ship Master, Joo’nae

Fleet Liaison, Khaorse Sal

Field Master, Am’jaree Osaris

War Chieftain, Catharsis

This was my first post at the start of this mission. At the very least perhaps the names of these creatures would have been gleaned from the Charity's computer before destruction.

All you need is for one of these persons to escape and some of Pirth's information will reach the Covenant. It was specifically compartmentalized for just such an occasion...

Well, that's the problem. If the Covenant get away with any of the data, the UNSC loses the war, because Earth and Reach and such will be glassed within the week - they have a copy of all of the navigational data that the Cole Protocol and such sought to keep out of the Covenant's hands.

Which is why there's only one decent copy which has by now been deleted. Mission 3 is a continuation based on this mission, not a reset.

I know. I understand OOCly that we're not going to find him, or if we do we won't be able to do anything to help him. But that's role-play - IC we wouldn't know that. And that is indeed an awesome plan!

The plan is good, the only thing I am going to add is a Drone Swarm chase as the escape.

Well, you can still hunt them down, but the Covenant aren't going to escape with intact data either way... as unfortunately, whoever originally planned the mission didn't count on both sides having player characters, and made the stakes a teensy bit too high.
