A thought.

With the release of Halo 1 on PC's MCC collection as well as the imminent arrival of Halo 2, Perhaps now is the prime time for us to kick things back into action. Put a fresh lick of paint on this website and maybe modernize it. Get some people in here, RPing and such.

Considering the world right now, I could see this place being a good haven for people suffering from the isolation of COVID-19 and looking to escape their reality. This may be the answer for them and us.

We're a good site with a proven crew and experience. It wouldn't take much to get this place back up and running. We would have to really re-organise it... and this is a radical suggestion, Maybe even rebrand the site. Yappa is gone. He will never be here again. This was his baby. His vision. Maybe what we need now, Is a new look and a new vision. One that takes into consideration new tech like Discord as well as old school like posting, And we can somehow integrate it.

I've been considering it for a while, but it all depends on how many of the other members will be interested in it. It's hard to be motivated to work on the site again when there's not much interest or motivation from the vast majority of the community.

I can't deny that. I will admit, It will be hard to have motivation when you consider, the last main mission we had was a long time ago, Most members have slunk off into the distance and most people now days see Halo as just another game. 

But I think, With the right amount of polish and appeal, We could get this sucker moving. I'm willing to throw in some time, In whatever capacity I can. But it would definitly involve a re-work of applications, what kind of characters are playable and how strict we want to be on the quality of our posting.

I think we can do this. It would be small at first, But once members see what we are up to, They may chime and join in.

The staff and I can't do it ourselves. It'll take the whole community to bring it back enough to make it feel like it's alive again.
Because, quite frankly, I can make it look new, modern, and everything in between, but it's up to everyone else to do their part and be as active as they can and participate throughout the site. Because I tried that more than once before. Hoping I don't sound mad btw, but it did make me feel disappointed and crap for a while when the staff and I tried putting things together for the members, and no one bothered or cared.

I didn't get any anger vibes. I totally get it. Its easy to slap a coat of paint and make things look new but unless you have people to enjoy your handiwork, Its rather pointless.

Well, Perhaps people will follow my example at start being active. It's why I've been posting new stuff in areas and just trying to get some interaction going between members. Small steps to be sure but those steps add up.

Of course. If there is anything learned in the years, It's that ideas are great and all but without people to help execute them... Well... The plan falls apart before it even starts.

I've been giving this a deal of thought and Cabel came up with some good suggestions last night in the cbox so credit goes entirely to him. Ill just post the chat log from the cbox.

Cabel: I had a thought, after reading through your post about possibly rebranding the site. What if we were to include the Insurrection in the timeline? I don't mean by dismissing the existing missions, contributions and posts, but in having the Years leading up to the War?

David: Do you think we could successfully merge it in?

Cabel: We could. We'd have to omit some of the tech such as Spartan Lasers, and some of the stuff developed during the War, but I think it would be possible. The Spartan II's did exist and were operational at that time too.

Cabel: It's just an idea at this point in time. I'm not sure if we'd get the others on board, but it'd be worth a shot. We do know at least in the books that the UNSC had been geared for War, had been heavily mobilized and that recruitment was across the board because of the Insurrectionist Movement, and that when the Covenant showed up the UNSC -- and humanity at large were prepared.

Cabel: If we did though, ships such as the Marathons wouldn't be operational. They wouldn't even be a consideration. The Halcyon Class would be among the premiere Cruisers. It would be the same with many of the ship classes, but given that there really isn't that much detailed information on what kinds of ships the UNSC Navy had at that time it would still allow us to create some if we needed.

It's a good start and idea. Its one alternative or, We could entirely start back at the events of Reach and again work forward leading to the events now of even Halo 5.

It would definitely mean a lot of database compiling and elimination/archival. I'd be down for that if thats what it took.

I'd rather create a board for Pre-War missions, like I have for the Human-Covenant War and Post-War, since people tend to like all of them, and there will be no need to restart anything, since players can make their own missions.

I think a separate sub board would be better. And likely you would need separate characters for pre-war/war/post-war maybe. I can see some people wanting to play the same throughout but that would be one old character. But I think even for the Covies it could be fun. Hunting down herectics or trying to find new worlds to industrialize or colonize. Going out for space beer with your space army buddies cause bored.
