Dark Matter RP OOC Info thread and character sheets

    Ok so, I was wondering if anyone else watched the TV show Dark Matter and maybe wanted to do an RP in that universe. This, of course, will not entail any of the main characters such as the crew of The Raza. However, it will contain the factions and corporations such as the GA (Galactic Authority), L.A.W (League of Autonomous Worlds), Mekkei Combine, Ferrous Corp and others relative to the show. Should you wish to join you can be a trader or a pirate, you could be a GA detective or you could swear your loyalty to a corporation or you could just be a regular civilian. The decision is yours this, however, will be taking place approximately 7 years before the beginning of the show. If no one wishes to participate I will leave it at that though if this is something of interest I will be happy to explore and find extra information. And since the show doesn't have an official year I have guesstimated it was about 2476, cause it seems in the ball park.

Appearance: Jacob is fit and carries himself with a confident stride. He bears a gunshot scar in the center of his chest. He usually when it is permitted carries a pistol with him. He wears black combat boots tan cargo pants, a pistol belt and holster, a green T-shirt and a dull copper colored leather jacket. He has a Comm piece that usually resides in his ear and he also carries a knife that rests just under the hem of his jacket for emergencies. He carries the sword he acquired in a duel with the Captian of a Zyron frigate where he was able to defeat the Captain in one on one combat, to this day Jacob practices his technique with a sword should the opportunity arise again.

Characteristic Traits: 
Strengths: Strong Leader: Jacob has been the Captain of his ship for many years and through that time has learned how to get in and out of difficult situations with a cool head.
Capable Engineer: Throughout the years Jacob has had to learn how to repair his ship after tough fights where repairs were necessary.
Quick on the draw: Jacob has had to learn how to fight his way out and to fight your way out you need to be faster than your opponent.
Weaknesses: Smoker: Jacob is a smoker which causes him to not have good and endurance when running or trekking long distances.
Hot headed: Jacob is the type of person to do things the lethal way, he usually just ends up shooting prisoners if they don't give him what he wants.
Pirate: Jacob loves the thrill of piracy and as such loves to always target cargo ships to steal what he wants, which has gotten him into trouble on more than a few occasions. Since he is a pirate he has to be careful about which stations he frequents

Occupation: Pirate: He runs a quick and capable ship that has enough decent deck guns to cripple most cargo vessels. It has an aft vault where he houses the spoils of his actions. The ship is FTL capable and has better quality sub-light engines making it fast. He purchased an android to be the full-time pilot of his ship though should the android be out of commission the ship can be piloted manually.

Background: Jacob grew up on Tylex Savant, a space station on the edge of inner colonized space. He began a poor life in an orphanage and survived by picking pockets and "borrowing" goods from the traders. This set him off on the path of a criminal but put cash in his pocket which allowed him to provide for the boy, Alex, he took under his wing, Alex soon discovered he was a pretty crap pickpocket but was very intelligent and was . Jacob and Alex grew up close as brothers and helped each other when they ran away from the orphanage at the ages of  17 (Jacob) and 16 (Alex). They kept each other alive and a few years after coming onto the streets, after managing to swipe a huge amount of cash off a drunk man at a bar, were able to buy a place to stay. Though one day upon returning to the apartment he was struck from behind and captured. When he awoke he was strapped to a chair facing Alex who was similarly restrained. They were questioned about the money they stole. Jacob told them it was all spent and but they didn't believe him so they shot Alex. This forced Jacob, he told them where the money was hidden in the apartment and believed them when they said they would let them go. Then they slit Alex's throat, Jacob swore he was going to kill them and that he was going to do many horrible things to them, but then they shot him in the chest and he passed out. Later he woke up in the hospital several weeks later after being put into a coma upon waking up he escaped with his health and little more. He then set out for revenge. He managed to scrape together a few bars and bought himself a pistol then set out to find those that had killed Alex. Within weeks of escaping he had managed to find them and snuck aboard their ship. He waited until they went into stasis for a long FTL jump and then woke them up one by one and slaughtered them. The man that had killed Alex he saved for last and when he pulled him out of stasis he knocked him unconscious and then tied him to a chair in an airlock. When the man awoke and saw Jacob he got a look of disbelief on his face. It took the man many many days to die. With that, he dropped the ship out of FTL and spaced all the bodies, after collecting all of their things. Jacob then set about recruiting crew for his ship and set out to a life of piracy.
