[OOC] Twelfth Night (Closed)

Hey guys!

So, I watched the single-player trailer for Titanfall 2, and the beginning bit inspired me to flesh out a rp idea I had.

The idea is that, some indistinct number of years after the Battle of Earth, an ONI vessel crash-lands on a remote planet. This takes out any long-range communications the crew might have had, and many supplies are ruined. There are a lot of deaths; the main survivors are an elite team that was supposed to be going on some unrelated mission. Depending on what characters people want to bring in, the team could be exclusively Spartans/UNSC spec ops, or it could be a coalition of sorts.

So, at the outset the only goal is survival. Naturally, the planet is home to all sorts of  inhospitable environments (fire storms? Acid volcanoes? Who even knows!) and nasty extraterrestrial beasts.

However, eventually the team is going to have to start figuring out a way to get back--and hey, wouldn't it be quite a literary convenience if the crash-landing tied in somehow to their original mission? That's just a thought, though.

Basically, the idea is to have a survival sandbox that has potential to develop into something more.

Let me know what you guys think, especially if you think you have ideas to flesh this out even more!

Oh, please do! I'd love to make this a collaborative thing where we come up with different monstrosities and challenges for the PC's to face.

I also thought about running it slightly DnD-style, in that one of us will act as DM and control what the environment is throwing at the PC's so that no one really knows what to expect. But I don't think that would really matter so much as long as no one was metagaming, which is easy to avoid.

I'm glad to see a decent amount of people joining in. Everyone can start posting the characters they want to play in here. I myself will field Capt. Rolland Knight, UNSCMC (SPARTAN-IV).

Due to the nature of this rp it won't exactly be easy to add in new characters midway, so I'm going to leave it open for now but close it to new additions before I put up the opening post. For everybody's situational awareness:

will be the day I post the IC thread, so anyone who hasn't joined by then won't be able to do so. That gives everybody a week to tidy up characters and post them in this thread.

Those all look good, guys, save one thing: Trooper, your profile for Lak Viska says she was basically shunned from galactic society and from her own homeworld. I think this makes her a good candidate for recruitment to this ONI-managed squad because in their eyes, she has nothing to lose and provides a valuable asset (think Suicide Squad, but not as extreme). I don't want to just force that on, so would that be okay with you?

And Faclan, I think Qep Hul would be the best fit. Maybe he could be (initially) assigned to engineering on the ship? It would have provided him an out from the difficult situation you described towards the end of his bio.

A120 and Lax, your profiles look good. A120, either one of those would fit well for the crew.

Alright, great! I'll put up the opening post on Thursday the 30 (for real this time!) a week past the original plan. That should give time for A120 to finalize on character choice, and for anyone else to hop in if they want!

Alright, opening post is now up (only a day late!)

If it wasn't made clear before now--the mission is, at the outset, an exploration mission. Obviously that changes once the ship, you know, crashes, but their initial directive is basically exploring the frontier.

I'll also leave this open for more characters until we've established the roots of the story, but once everyone's made their crash post and the characters are hardened out within the thread, it would be pretty tough to introduce new characters.
