I'm not extremely familiar with the Halo series, so this is kinda difficult. Location: UNSC War-ship docking bay. Michael "Mikey" Voronda exits the transport onto the hanger bay. His boots make a rhythmic "tick, tick, tick" sound as he strides confidently- but slowly observing everything around him- toward the hanger door. He is wearing his BDU and is wearing a backpack loaded with his personal belongings.

((Okay. So far so good. Remember to write your posts like you're reading from one of the Halo novels. If you haven't read one, I suggest you pick up Halo: The Fall of Reach or perhaps Halo: First Contact; both are excellent books.))
Chief Petty Officer Samantha Johanson, who was a system specialist for a Longsword dubbed 'The Reigning Ace' as evidenced by the stenciling on the aircraft, had made her way from the bowels of the hanger bays to leave the warship for some liberty as it hovered over her home planet. Over the course of the last ten months of deployment her longsword squadron was nearly wiped out. She, under the Captain of the longsword, had registered nine Seraph kills during that deployment and had bombed Covenant positions during airstrikes in a six month battle between the Covenant and UNSC ground forces.
As soon as she arrived she couldn't help but notice a new comer that looked out of place. Freshly issued battle dress uniform, while hers was warn out and aged like herself, and a rucksack with his belongings slung across his shoulders and on his back. She stopped for a moment and considered the possibility that she had never seen him before on the vessel, thus making him a rotation for the crew going on leave rather than a weekend liberty.
"Welcome aboard the UNSCS Prince of Duke," Johanson said. "I've never seen you around before. You knew?"

((Thanks, I will look into the books. I didn't know about anything other than the games. BTW, I was about to give up and send you a PM if you didn't respond by today. Also, it's gonna be a bit bumpy for now untill I read the book. I can already tell that this is very different from most other RP formats.))
Mikey- making note of the approaching specialist, snapped to attention. After a couple seconds, he realized she was making her way towards him. almost immediately after she finished her sentence Mikey did his best to respond. "Yes ma'am... I uhh... I am new." He was trying his hardest to relax. "I um, have no idea where I am except for the name of the ship and uhh..." Mikey looks around for the number. "docking bay 5. My name is Michael by the way, uhh... Michael Voronda.

Johanson recoiled slightly to the immediate at attention pose, but remained calm. "At ease, Private. I work for a living and I'm not an officer." She said softly to the new arrival. With a mental shrug she listened to the Private's sentences. Once he was finished the Chief Petty Officer turned on her heels and strode towards a blueprint of the Frigate. Despite being over five hundred meters in length the Frigate was rather roomy thanks to the bulky hanger bays towards the vessels amidship.
"These maps are on every deck so the crew knows where they are going," The Chief Petty Officer said as she pointed out the blueprint. "Eventually you won't need them but for now they'll become your best friend. You'll find all the non-critical information you need on them and since they're digital you can even select which decks you want to visit by what theme. For example you can choose theme three and it will show you what decks and sections of this vessel that have a recreational area for the crew."
She continued immediately after catching a quick breath, "You can download this map to your tacpad or neural lace.... And my name is Chief Petty Officer Samantha Johanson. Nice to meet you. Do you need anymore help, my shift is over so I can give you a quick tour if you want."
Samantha had always been one to help people in need so she didn't mind giving up her spot on the pelican for the next outbound dropship.

(I actually didn't salute. I'm basing a lot of this on my experience in Air Force Jr. ROTC, considering that the military- is the military, regardless of what branch. I am correct in saying that you would stand at attention when addressed by a Sr. Enlisted such as a E7,8, or 9 right? Also, I have found Fall of Reach at the library, and am checking it out.)
Mikey relaxes a little bit considering the CPO's friendly demeanor. "Thanks for this,I really don't know what I'd do if I hadn't run into you." He walks over to the blueprint, studies it for a moment and realizes something. "I don't know how to download this stuff, Ive never been technologically advanced. Have you any idea where newcomers are supposed to go?"

Johanson dabbed a dry part of her lips with her tongue and listened to the Private as he studied the vessels blue-print. He explained how he didn't know how to download the file. Johanson nodded; it was pretty typical for new arrivals to not know how a vessels wireless shipnet connection.
"Draw your tactical pad and connect to the shipnet connection. Tap the blueprint screen. It will automatically sync your tactical pad thanks to your neural lace and prompt you with an option on the blueprint screen. You can either view the blueprint or download the blueprint to your tactical pad if you so wish." Johanson said.
"I could do it for you if you'd like, but you need to learn a few things. While we're not as technologically advanced as the Covenant we're still a technological military."

((OOC: Sorry it's been a while... I've been too busy working to play digital hooky)) Mikey did as he was told, pulling up the blueprint screen and beginning to comprehend what was happening. He decided he wanted to keep the file on his tac-pad.
"Yes, I understand. We are definitely not as advanced, nor are we as wretchedly brutal. I do plan on making the most of our thin resources." Micheal understood that knowing his resources- from the tech right at his hands to the guns aboard the ship- were the only way to fulfill his burning desire to make the damn beasts roast in hell.
((PS: I'm on chapter 2 of Fall of Reach. It's going a bit slow, because I'm... working.))

"I don't think you have to worry much about our thin resources. I don't know much of the situation, that's what the brass heads are for. I just do my job on this ship as hard as I can so my home doesn't become a liability to the fleet," The Chief Petty Officer replied - her 'home' had become the frigate, true, but more importantly her longsword interceptor. "Hell if I'm going to let it get destroyed without a fight from my own." She added.
She studied the occupied youngster. "You'll be deployed with the Marines, so you need to steel yourself for what you'll see. Practicing on a simulator is much, much safer than actually fighting the Covenant. First time you see them in the flesh you'll shake so much you'll think your bones have melted."

"Yes, that is a good idea" Mike replied. He shifted the backpack he was wearing, and pulled the map back up on his tac-pad. "So, how about that tour? If it's all-right with you? It is one thing to memorize the layout on a map, and another to know it by heart."
