Orbit over planet Nexium Covenant brute ship Righteous Redoubt SPARTAN-001 Roy finished attaching the C12 explosive to the coolant pipes, checking his tacpad to make sure that the C12's transmitters were responding. Once he was sure they were all ready to be detonated he scooped up his MA5C and pulled back the bolt, making sure a round was still in it. He then dropped the magazine to make sure it was full, since his had a sight instead of an ammo counter, as well as a silencer. After his rifle check he moved to the door, using quick steady steps, checking both directions before heading left, still keeping his rifle shouldered. He knew he needed to get to the hangar and use the seraph he'd stolen to escape. It seemed like it'd be a perfect op, having snuck in and vented all the decks except his own, staying undetected all the way up to the point he was at. He didn't know how many were on his deck, or alive, but it didn't matter. He acted as if there was an enemy around every corner, he wouldn't let his guard down until he was back on a human ship. Roy came around the main corridor to see the straight shot into the hangar. It was a long hallway, so Roy moved at a quicker pace, a fast walk, as he neared the wide covenant doors. He had heard no covenant chatter since venting the decks, so that meant that any that were alive, were not in contact, most likely, which Roy liked. He didn't need any surprises. He reached the doors and brought his tacpad up to the 'lock'. A progress bar appeared on his screen and then suddenly the door blinked, parting to reveal the, hopefully, empty hangar.

Jiralhanae Chieftain Garatus the Deathless, Restorer of Tribes and Slayer of Shadowed Imps. Righteous Redoubt - Personal Vessel of Garatus.
Garatus was furious, he roared and thundered down one of the few breathable corridors in his ship. Either the ship was malfunctioning lethally, or they were infiltrated... Garatus's paranoia after the death of Jornarus directed him to the conclusion of infiltration. Obviously ONI had decided to come after him to finish their murderous game. Garatus refused to die in the lifeless void, that was not his fate. So he headed for the hangar to make his escape. His footfalls were heavy and his pace fast, his Gravity hammer was strapped to his back and a Plasma repeater was clutched in his gargantuan claws.
A space-ready Phantom was sitting in the hangar along with several Seraphs, five Jiralhanae were standing beside it. "Get your hides in that Phantom, load my Chopper and warm her up!" he roared at his Warriors whom all immediately ran to start up the Phantom whilst the Chopper was loaded into it. Garatus walked down the primary ramp towards the loaded Phantom as it was warming up, but as he descended and neared the foot of the rampart the door behind him(at the top of the rampart with a walkway extending to both sides) opened. Garatus roared as he saw what was hunting him, lifting his Plasma repeater and opening fire on the Spartan "you'll not take me, Demon!" he bellowed as he backpedaled into the main area of the hangar.
(OOC: there will be plenty of crates and crap to interact with and such in the hangar, like the Covie ship in Combat Evolved.)

Orbit over planet Nexium Covenant brute ship Righteous Redoubt SPARTAN-001 Roy almost made a noise at the sight of the brute chieftain on the other side of the bulkhead, but instead his hands were a blur as the creature shouted at him. Before the creature could probably even see his motions Roy was firing at the massive alien, moving at a quick walk to one of the crates and ducking behind it. He didn't know how long he had before the creature would take to fully gain control of itself and begin it's attack, but he didn't waste any time, while in cover he jammed his MA5B out from behind the crate and began to blind fire, while reaching into his satchel and retrieving a fragmentation grenade.

Jiralhanae Chieftain Garatus the Deathless. Righteous Redoubt.
Garatus watched as the Demon moved with unholy speed and began firing upon him, the bullets pinging off or imbedding itself in his armor. Garatus brought his massive arm shield up, trying to negate the damage to his primary armor. He performed a spinning sidestep behind a crate, before readying his Plasma repeater. Garatus jumped out from cover with his plasma repeater blazing.
He moved forward towards the Demon at a good pace, shooting in controlled bursts to deter his weapon from overheating. Garatus roared as his Reaper overheated.

Roy poked his head from cover only to rip it back again to avoid plasma from splashing into his visor. He growled as the grenade slipped from his hands and skidded into the open. He hadn't even had a chance to prime it yet. Either way he heard the sound of the brutes weapon overheating and decided to take his chances. He launched himself from cover, taking a few steps to reach his top speed as he sprinted into the beast. He shoulder checked it hard, but knew it wouldn't do much to the massive brute, so afterwards he swung his rifle's butt hard into its abdomen before hitting it with a hard backhand. He then tried to duck past it and fire into it's back.

Jiralhanae Chieftain Garatus Righteous Redoubt.
Garatus was surprised when the evil beast ran from cover and charged him, it moved at an alarming speed. It lead with its shoulder into his chest, staggering him slightly. It followed with the butt of its weapon into his gut, then it swung the back of its hand hard into his face. Garatus manage to seize its arm and attempted to bite off its hand, but with a ferocious snarl and snap of his powerful jaws all he came back with was a finger. He attempted to make a followup swing at its torso with his arm shield.

Orbit over planet Nexium Covenant brute ship Righteous Redoubt SPARTAN-001 Roy was surprised when he felt the brute grab his arm. His reaction was swift, however, feeling a slight pain he was to hopped up on adrenalin to notice. Instead he slid low and let his hands grab the edge of the brute's shield, making the brute suddenly fling him up into the air, which allowed Roy to segue into a leap backwards instead of getting smashed. Roy landed on his feat and suddenly realized what the pain was. His left ring finger was missing at the first joint, oozing blood at much to fast a rate for Roy's liking. He thought fast, diving into cover and yanking the oxy-ascedaline welding torch from his satchel. He sparked it and burnt the wound, grinding his teeth in pain.

Jiralhanae Chieftain Garatus the Deathless. Righteous Redoubt.
Garatus watched as the Demon used his attack to its advantage, probably why they were so successful by the Humans poor standards. Garatus pulled the Gravity Hammer from his back, pausing to listen. He heard a popping flicker, much like a flame, and charged to try and prevent whatever devilry was transpiring. Once within range of the Spartans cover he spun, the hammer knocking the cover away. Garatus quickly followed up with a downward swing at the Demon.

Orbit over planet Nexium Covenant brute ship Righteous Redoubt SPARTAN-001 Roy heard the thundering steps of the chieftain and worked faster. Right as he was finished cauterizing the wound his cover was thrown away, revealing him to the brute. His brain processed the scene quickly, realizing if he didn't move he'd become a smear on the ground. All the SPARTANs had the physiques of gymnasts, and though he was large, Roy was muscled enough to easily lift his own weight. He sprung forward on his hand, barely dodging the hammer strike. He spun and flung the torch towards the creature, snapping the M7 SMG from his hip and spraying at the welder, sparking the side and causing it to explode.

Jiralhanae Chieftain Garatus the Deathless. Righteous Redoubt.
Garatus roared defiantly as the Demon continued to evade him, it was nearly as bulky as a Sangheili and yet is was just as, if not more agile. It moved with surprising grace, and Garatus moved to swing his hammer again. It threw its torch device at him and pulled a weapon from its hip, spraying Garatus and the flame-maker with bullets. The flamed canister exploded and caused Garatus to squeeze his eyes shut and flail his hammer wildly, bellowing in pain and anger.

Orbit over planet Nexium Covenant brute ship Righteous Redoubt SPARTAN-001 Roy continued to fire at the brute as he ran at it a second time, this time stepping on the overturned crate and launching himself up so that he could give the flailing behemoth a knee to the face. He arched with surprising grace, firing up to almost the last second before dropping the weapon and trying to grab the back of the brute's head so when he kneed it it would hurt more.

Jiralhanae Chieftain Garatus. Righteous Redoubt.
Garatus's shield helped deflect the continuous stream of bullets but his body armor took a great beating still, cracking in several places. When the barrage ceased he heard the weapon clatter, and at the same time the back of his head and helmet were groped, Garatus instinctively wrapping his arms around his attackers back. The knee collided heavily into the faceplate of his helmet as his arms moved into place, blooding his nose and disorienting him as he made an attempt to slam the Spartan into the ground.

Roy felt his body lock up as the brutes tree-trunk arms held him in a tight embrace. He grunted, the first sound he'd made in almost twelve hours, and began to slam his robotic fist into the brute's head, denting the covenant metal as he continued to pound. With his free, human, arm, he wrenched his cleaver from it's sheath and slammed the blade down into the creatures shoulder, he continued his multi-fronted attack even as the beast began to slam him into the ground, his mijolner groaning with the stress, but he knew it could hold from blunt trauma, considering he'd seen it fall from orbit before.

Jiralhanae Chieftain Garatus. Righteous Redoubt.
Garatus's head pounded with pain from the beating his helmet had taken, his head would surely bruise hellishly from the force that had slammed into his helmet so forcefully. The pain in his head was almost enough to drown out the pain in his shoulder, but not enough for him to forget as he momentarily looked down. It was a blade imbedded in his flesh, and the wound wept maroon blood. Garatus roared and slammed his foot furiously at the Demon, he hoped to crush it if possible, though he knew little of their armor.

Roy felt himself get flung to the ground, just barely managing to keep his cleaver in hand, the force of the throw stunned him for a split second, but it was enough. He looked up in time to see the massive foot of the behemoth come crashing down onto his breast plate, causing something in Roy's chest to crack, as well as a decent flecking of blood to splash across the inside of his helmet. Roy let out a loud heave of pain, but didn't let it stop him. He took his blade and began to stab rapidly into the creatures shin and knee, aiming for the joints of it's armor. He need to get out from under it's foot or he was dead.

Garatus was most pleased when his foot found its mark, a wonderful sounding crack coming from the Demon's chest. It was a short lived victory as the Demon began stabbing his shin, blood spurted from the wounds as Garatus howled in pain. He roared with renewed vigor, using his arm shield to sweep the ground towards the Demon, if it made contact it probably wouldn't harm the evil creature, simply skid it away. Garatus instinctively sought out his hammer, seizing it forcefully with both hands.

Orbit over planet Nexium Covenant brute ship Righteous Redoubt SPARTAN-001 Roy felt the foot finally lift off from his chest and took a crisp, painful breath into his bruised body. He was about to launch another attack when he felt the brute's shield fling him away, sending him and his cleaver skidding. Roy was quick, pulling the last fire arm he had from it's holster, his M6D, and firing a few shots off at the brute as he scrabbled for his cleaver with his other hand. His breathing was off, and he was more focused on the knife, so he doubted many of his shots would hit, but he just needed the beast to be distracted long enough for him to grab his blade.

Garatus was relieved beyond measure by the feel of his hammer in his hands, the sturdiness of the Jiralhanae metal, the smooth leather wrapped handle. Garatus turned to face the Demon again, but before he could make a step towards it, it fired upon him again. He was distracted, using his arm shield to protect his chest and face. Roaring, Garatus advanced upon the Demon with bitter determination.

Orbit over planet Nexium Covenant brute ship Righteous Redoubt SPARTAN-001 Do or die... Roy decided this engagement had gone on long enough, he needed to end it, one way or another. He heard the brute thundering towards him and he acted quickly, running behind a crate and kicking it as hard as he could at the brute, he only needed a little time. He ran over to the console nearest to him, rapidly tapping keys on his tac-pad. A program began to flash on the screen as well as a progress bar as he spun to face the brute, firing the last of his magazine. He had written a program before he left that would work with the ships' battle net, allowing him remote access from any of the terminals he came across on the ship. He had decided on a fail safe, in case things became to hectic, where he would activate a venting procedure that would completely zero out the pressure on all decks. He knew that with the time it would take for the ship's hangar to vent, as well as the time it would take for the program to work he'd have enough time to reach his seraph, the only thing on his mind was whether or not the brute would let him... The brute was on top of him by the time the sirens started wailing, guttural growling filling the air, an alert of the pressure change, Roy assumed. But he didn't have time think about it as he launched into combat, Cleaver barred as he physicked himself for the incoming blows.

Garatus continued his charge, fury building within him. As he ran, the damnable Demon kicked a crate at him and nearly took his feet out from under him. Garatus scrambled to steady himself, his lips curling viciously as he saw the Demon mucking about with a console. Garatus continued resumed his charge, roaring as he made his way to the Demon. Garatus spun in a circle as he neared, with his hammer swinging viciously at his foe. He roared as he attacked, cursing obscenely in his native tongue.

Roy was surprised by the brute's sudden rage, it's speed catching him off guard, but he managed to react well, he himself moving towards the creature, he dropped to his knees, his heavy weight causing him to slide just barely under the swing, the force of it causing a tiny hairline fracture to appear on his helmet, which was not good. As he slid under the attack he made a slash at the chieftain's knees, hoping to stumble it. The fight was proving as he had feared, drawn out, even in the new situation he had created. He had to end this quickly, so when he slid past the brute he brought his foot forward to pivot him into a standing position, turning on his heel to be facing the creature again. He needed it to make a mistake, so, he brought his free arm up and flipped his fingers forward, as if to goad it into attacking him.

Jiralhanae Chieftain Garatus. Righteous Redoubt.
Garatus grinned when he saw the Demon meeting his charge, perhaps it had a hint of honor after all. But he was just as soon displeased, it managed to avoid his attack for the most part. Garatus roared in equal parts anger and pain as the Demon's blade slashed over his kneecap, Garatus made a swing at it but missed with a deep growl. It was graceful, and soon it was standing again, facing him. He barked at its gesture, knowing exactly what it meant... and he knew exactly what he was going to do.
Garatus roared once more, this time like thunder overhead. He swung the flat of his hammer at the Demon, then quickly brought the weapon in a backlash with the blade. His intent was to make an opening, to try and catch it off guard. He brought the top of his hammer up at its chest, off to one side, and fired his secret weapon. A massive burst erupted from the head of the hammer.

Orbit over planet Nexium Covenant brute ship Righteous Redoubt SPARTAN-001 Roy was pleased that it took the bait, but his pleasure was short lived as it's attack caught him off guard. It seemed like a simple swing, easily dodged, but then the blade on the back flicked towards him, forcing him to bring his arms up to catch it. What Roy wasn't expecting was the sudden blast of azure fire that engulfed his left side. His robotic right side didn't falter, but his flesh left side was burning. He let out a pained scream as he felt his skin begin to burn as his mijoner heated from the fire. He launched himself backwards, fire still raging, and flung his cleaver at the brute, it's perfectly balanced blade arching beautifully towards it's chest. He couldn't fight, he had to move, turning and moving towards his seraph. He wasn't running, he was full on sprinting. He had to disengage and HAD to remove his armor, before it sunk all the way through and melted his skin. He was already in immense pain, but what was scaring him was that he was starting to lose feeling on the first layer of skin on his entire upper left side, including his face. Out of his left eye all he could see was blue flame, and it was starting to warp as the glass began to fail. His seraph was already open and waiting, and he flung himself inside, using his good eye to tap the override that closed the seraph's cabin. Roy was writhing on the ground, the fire still raging as he tried to remove the helmet. What he hadn't accounted for was being on his back and looking up, when the face plate finally gave, a hot glob of molten glass, just the size of his cornea, made it's way into his eye. The pain was unimaginable, and if he hadn't been a spartan he would have simply passed out right there. However, his adrenalin kicked in and he ripped the helmet free, flinging it off to the side in a painful rage. His eye was bleeding, and now he couldn't see from it, and his body was still on fire, but he flung himself onto the ship's console and launched out into space. He had a plan to stop the fire, but it was risky. Once his ship cleared the hangar he rapidly worked his tac-pad, forcing it to vent the cabin's air by opening the bay door. Roy had latched onto the weird covenant chair and when he felt all of the air start to go he breathed out, so his lung's wouldn't explode. The force was instant and brutal, but his robotic arm and socket held as the fire finally extinguished. He keyed the door shut, the edge of his vision fading to black as he suphocaited, and let the cabin fill with reserve air. He dropped to the hard metal deck of the ship and let out a long pained gasp, his cracked ribs causing him to feel pain with every breath. He had survived, but barely. On inspection of his wounds he found that his entire left arm and torso, up to the wrist, was burnt horribly, and when he removed the armor he felt the goop of his melted skin shift under it, causing extreme pain. His face was also burnt from the heat of the fire, causing from around his eye all the way to his ear to be a crispy mess. He was exhausted, burnt, and broken, but the stealth prowler on the edge of the system he was in was already moving in on his beacon, and he had succeeded. For Roy, this was a victory.

Jiralhanae Chieftain Garatus. Righteous Redoubt.
Garatus grinned through heavy breaths, each one harder than the last since the Demon started its decompression. The scream was glorious to him, but his joy at the Demon's suffering was cut short. As if in one last act of spite, the Demon had flung its cleaver at him, the blade imbedding into his chest. A pained bellow erupted from his mouth, the following inhale being incredibly difficult to draw in.
Unable to wait any longer, Garatus ran as best he could towards his waiting Phantom. He tapped the bottom of the vessel with his hammer, signaling for the crew inside to bring him in with the gravity lift. Hi rose up from the ground, up into the fully breathable air of the small ships hold. He thumped to the floor, the cleaver falling from his chest with a clatter as his Warriors hastened to their Chieftain. They watched with fear and awe as he put himself into a sitting position, many wounds marked his body but he had survived.
One of his Warriors set about covering his wounds, taking care not to gain the Chieftain's ire by prodding too hard. Garatus flipped the Demon's cleaver in his hand, looking the blade over. He would keep it, he decided. A trophy of sorts, he would make sure to kill as many Humans as possible with it, retribution perhaps, or just blood lust on his part. Garatus looked up when one of his Warriors approached, almost timidly.
"Chieftain... did... did you kill the Demon?" a younger Jiralhanae ventured to ask. Garatus shrugged uncertainly "I blast the bastard with my hammer, but he made it to a Seraph. He may die from his wounds, for I set him aflame" Garatus said with a growl. "In any case, he will not be coming back anytime soon, so don't fret" Garatus said to the youth, grunting as he adjusted his position slightly.
"Pilot!" Garatus said forcefully, "did any other vessels launch? Or are we..." Garatus trailed off sullenly "Three other Phantoms, Chieftain" the pilot rumbled in response. Garatus growled, too many good Jiralhanae died earlier than they should have. "So be it...." Garatus concluded with a snarl.
