A heavily-damaged Lich ripped through the afternoon sky's clouds with plasma streaks and smoke making a less than subtle warning as she made a arched dive into the mountainside. Barely missing a patrolling reptilian beast's head, the creature ducked and released an angry snarl at the crashing vehicle before rushing to whatever it was trekking for. Her eerie engines whined in attempt to recover at least some kind of stable landing but the resulting crash ripped a loud explosion that catches a helmet-clad Kig-yar's attention with a questioning tilt of his head. Screeching out along the mountain range, more of his clan brothers answered of a possible hoard.
A hour in this event, a pelican of rock camouflage was arriving on the scene with a few plasma scars on its flank. Circling around like a carrion eater, it made a slow turnabout when the broken ship's corpse sat deep into the rockface by a ledge with ionized gases flowing out of the cracked carapace. "Target Alpha is down but...the crash site looks picked clean. Recommend liquidation." The pilot reported before someone on the other end replied quick, "No, we require any equipment that might have survived the crash. The price would be quite hefty."
"Yes, sir. What about any survivors?" A departing soldier in a miscolored ODST BDU questioned, looking at the opening back while thumbing his M5AB's safety. "They're Elites. Execute them as justly permitted." Their officer responded. At this allowance, the armored troop of five led by the shocktrooper jumped out with assault and battle rifles. A sweep through the jagged reminds, there was nothing of real salvagable value as expect, but there were Sangheili scattered about. Most looked dead with their charred flesh and glossy eyes, stripped down to their jumpsuits. One bullet to the head made doubly sure...there were two that twitched in their deathly unconsciousness, only to arouse one near the remnants of the cockpit.
Vision was hazy but the dulled hearing blurred of the deadly warning. Ballistic fire and at least one curse spewing from a soon-to-die Sangheili's mandibles. When one of the soldiers came up on the fallen alien, slouched against the controls next to a more twisted corpse. Unlike the others, this body was larger than the typical Sangheili by a couple heads; gray-skinned with prominent scales along its head, deep-set eyes rimmed with aged wrinkles, tusks jutting from powerful mandibles, and a jagged scar running over one side of its face with plasma scars on the temple. "Found another one...boy, this is a big one!" The Insurrectionist alerts, lifting up his rifle for the coup de grace.
---
Just then, the film of the secondary eyelid slid back with an audible slurp. A bass-deep growl rolled out of the beast's chest like a grinding boulder that gave the soldier's heart a jump, barely enough for a huge fist to smack the rifle aside as it spat a full automatic into the neighboring body. The boy's mouth opened for a warning cry but a leathery palm covered his face before violently slamming his unprotected neck through a jutting rod of metal. Thick sanguine drooling from the piercing tip, the awakened Sangheili snatched the fallen rifle and checked its ammunition counter while painfully getting out of his seat with a popping of joints. The migraine was more of a discomfort and the fact he was in just his undersuit, burned his adrenaline and anger to push all things aside.
"Hey, Jeff! You alright?"* A voice asked from the midst of Lich parts as it shuffled through the wreck. That human pitch made the aged soldier winch some in annoyance and headache. What he would give for a quieter weapon right now, but at least he had something. Hiding behind a sizable sheet of metal, Huka pondered his opinions and looked at the opening to a proper escape. Pressing his head to his cover, he theorized a lance and right now, he was in no condition to fight. Once upon a time, he would fight them all to the death...but today wasn't that time.
Right when he heard the curious other step into the corner of his cover, the large Kaidon charged shoulder-first into another of his assassins with all of his might and crashed his armored body with the sound of broken bones. Personally, he didn't know if it was fatal or not but it was enough to disable. Enough to make a beguilingly fast sprint through the opening with his body complaining of its mortal woes and down a steep sloop while the sounds of furious cries chased behind him.
What a grand way to step onto a new planet...
