Just a little history thing I thought up for Mike and needed to write it, and thought I'd share it. Another back story, but in trans-script format of interrogations I will come up with, dealing with the Covies and Innies.. Fun to write. Hope you enjoy if you decide to read it.

// RECORDED TRANSCRIPTION EXCERPT
[EXCERPT 01 BEGINS]
[HAYDEN] Current date and time is May 13, 2543, 0956 hours standard. We are in orbit above Elysium, aboard UNSC Prowler #596, within the ship's interrogation cell. This is UNSC AI Hayden, service number SLP 9017-9. First Lieutenant, please state your rank, name, and service number for the record.
[MORETTI] First Lieutenant Michelangelo Nicoli Moretti, Office of Naval Intelligence, service number 36593 – 06164 – MM.
[HAYDEN] Second Lieutenant, your rank, name, and service number for the record, please.
[HYDE] Second Lieutenant Christopher John Hyde, Office of Naval Intelligence, Xeno-Linguist, service number 48952 – 64221 – CJ.
[HAYDEN] Let the record show that SUBJECT 128 was captured on the planet's surface during the operation PAPER CUT by ONI Recon Unit #616. Unit #616 retrieved SUBJECT 128 after it was injured during a fire fight which it survived. The subject is approximately 6'-11” in height and approximately 230 pounds in weight.
[SUBJECT 128] Please...no hurt...me.
[HAYDEN] The SUBJECT 128 is restrained and cooperating. Second Lieutenant, can you verify that for the record?
[HYDE] SUBJECT 128 is restrained and cooperating.
[HAYDEN] Thank you Second Lieutenant. First Lieutenant, you may begin.
[MORETTI] Can you hear me?
[SUBJECT 128] [Cheeps several times]
[HAYDEN] Let the record show that SUBJECT 128 has made eye contact with the First Lieutenant.
[MORETTI] I heard you speak English. Do you speak fluent English?
[SUBJECT 128] [unintelligible]
[MORETTI] Chris, what did it say?
[HYDE] She was speaking too low, but I think she said yes.
[MORETTI] If you can hear and understand me, nod your head.
[HAYDEN] SUBJECT 128 has nodded its head.
[MORETTI] What is your name?
[SUBJECT 128] [unintelligible]
[MORETTI] Chris...?
[HYDE] She's still out of it, Mike...give her some time to respond.
[MORETTI] Oh, sure thing, buddy. I'll give her time to respond. Maybe you, me and the subject can all chill, drink some strawberry daiquiri too with a little umbrella, and chow down on some appetizers while we're waiting for her to answer me.
[HYDE] [sighs] [Expletive]ing ass...
[MORETTI] [laughs] Okay, okay. I'll allow it to take it's time to answer me. Happy?
[HYDE] Mmm.
[HAYDEN] SUBJECT 128 is given time to respond to First Lieutenant's questions due to her injuries sustained in the fire fight planet side.
[MORETTI] [After waiting around for a few minutes] Your name? State your name.
[SUBJECT 128] Re...Resa...
[MORETTI] Resa? I thought these Jackals have three-lettered names?
[HYDE] Yes, Mike, but she is a T'vaoan. Since Resa is a female, she has a four-letter name instead of three letters like the males do.
[HAYDEN] SUBJECT 128 has made eye-contact with the Second Lieutenant.
[SUBJECT 128] You...you know of our culture, human?
[HYDE] Yeah. I've been studying the Covenant species for a while. I'm fluent in Sangheili, but still learning the other languages, like Kig-Yarese. I would love to know more about you. What is your clan name?
[SUBJECT 128] Clan Rek. Small...clan...deal wi...[catches breath]...with...herbal and...poisons. Became mercenary in...[catches breath]...Covenant [unintelligible]...
[HAYDEN] Let the records show that the subject's heart rate is rising.
[SUBJECT 128] [unintelligible]...feeling...sick...
[HAYDEN] Let the records show that SUBJECT 128 is fighting against its restraints. First Lieutenant...
[MORETTI] Stay still, or I will have to kill you.
[SUBJECT 128] No...no. Please...sick...don't hurt...
[HYDE] Mike, let her rest. She's been through a lot with the trauma already.
[HAYDEN] SUBJECT 128 has slipped into unconsciousness.
[MORETTI] Fine. Let's continue with it later then.
[HYDE] Her, Mike. It's a her, not an it.
[MORETTI] What are you, my mother?
[HYDE] [sighs] Little shit. [clears throat] Um, Hayden. I'd like to request for more medical treatment to be done on the subject.
[HAYDEN] Request granted. I will let the medical doctor know.
[HYDE] Thank you.
[MORETTI] Okay. Let's get out of here and get something to eat in the mess hall, man. I'm starving.
[HYDE] You already ate...
[MORETTI] What can I say...interrogating prisoners makes me hungry.
[HAYDEN] Second Lieutenant Hyde has given a rude gesture to First Lieutenant Moretti's back as they leave the room, Medical doctor is on the way.
[MORETTI] Fottiti!
[EXCERPT 01 ENDS]
[EXCERPT 02 BEGINS]
[HAYDEN] Current date and time is May 14, 2543, 0330 hours standard. Welcome back, First and Second Lieutenants. SUBJECT 128's condition is stable and is now conscious. You may continue your interrogation on it, First Lieutenant Moretti.
[MORETTI] Good. Let's get this over with.
[SUBJECT 128] Human...?
[HAYDEN] SUBJECT 128's attention is on the First Lieutenant.
[MORETTI] Yeah, I'm obviously a human...
[SUBJECT 128] [unintelligible]
[HAYDEN] The SUBJECT 128's attention is now on the Second Lieutenant.
[HYDE] Heh...yeah. It's something to get used to.
[MORETTI] What?
[HYDE] Nothing...
[MORETTI] No. What did it say? It said something to you about me?
[HAYDEN] Second Lieutenant Hyde is smirking at First Lieutenant Moretti.
[MORETTI] No shit, Hayden. Chris, seriously, man. What did it say?
[HYDE] Oh, I'll tell you, Mike. If you stop calling her an it.
[MORETTI] [Expletive]. Why do you have to be so difficult?
[HYDE] You are far worse than me, and you know it.
[MORETTI] Fine...fine. [Expletive]ing hell. She. She...there.
[HYDE] Mmm. It's nice to know something you don't know. In any case, it's nothing important.
[MORETTI] I knew it. See...this is why we can't have nice things. You're too attached to these damn aliens, like it. Oops. Sorry, I mean her, Chris.
[HAYDEN] SUBJECT 128 is looking back and forth at the two...hmm...should I say, children?
[HYDE] If you take a moment to talk to them and learn about them, you will know that they aren't so different from us humans.
[MORETTI] I don't want to, and I don't care. It's not my job to get to know them, nor do I ever want to. That's your job, buddy. Not mine. If you want to do that, then great...awesome, but they aren't here to play nice with me, you, and every other human out there. And you shouldn't be so nice to them, either.
[HYDE] [sighs] Mike...
[MORETTI] Chris...
[HAYDEN] Hello? May I remind you that you have a subject to interrogate here, and should probably complete it. Kids...
[MORETTI] Sorry, mom.
[HAYDEN] I am not...[sighs]...Right, of course. I have nearly forgotten who I was dealing with here. Carry on.
[MORETTI] Whatever.
[SUBJECT 128] Human Mike...?
[MORETTI] Uh...what?
[SUBJECT 128] Are you going to kill me?
[MORETTI] I'm the one asking the questions here. Not you.
[HYDE] Way to deflect the question, Mike.
[HAYDEN] The First Lieutenant is glaring at the Second Lieutenant...possibly thinking of ways to throw him out of the airlock.
[MORETTI] Fine. If you want to live, then you're going to have to answer my questions truthfully. You want to live, don't you?
[SUBJECT 128] Y...yes. Please. No kill me. I will answer whatever you want to know.
[MORETTI] Finally, some headway.
[HYDE] Um...that's primarily your fault, man...
[MORETTI] Anyway...Resa. Tell me why you and the other Covies were on that planet.
[SUBJECT 128] We were a scout force. Sent to find artifacts or minerals.
[MORETTI] Artifacts, like what?
[SUBJECT 128] Forerunner.
[MORETTI] And the minerals?
[SUBJECT 128] Any, nothing in particular.
[MORETTI] I see. Did you find what you were looking for?
[SUBJECT 128] Yes...
[MORETTI] Forerunner technology, I'm guessing?
[HAYDEN] SUBJECT 128 has nodded in response.
[MORETTI] Hayden, inform Captain Merinkov of the Forerunner artifacts they found down there, and have him send in a team to investigate it.
[HAYDEN] I will inform the Captain. One moment. Captain Merinkov has been informed, First Lieutenant.
[MORETTI] Thanks.
[SUBJECT 128] [unintelligible]
[MORETTI] Oooh. It sounds angry.
[HYDE] She is...yes.
[MORETTI] What did it say? Hey, what did you say? I advise you to speak in English from here on out, Resa. Because I'm honestly getting annoyed with having to keep asking my friend here with what you said whenever you start speaking in your Kig-Yarese or whatever the [expletive] your people call your [expletive]ing language.
[HYDE] Mike...go easy on her. You'll be surprised how much they will talk if you are nice to them for once.
[MORETTI] Nice, huh? So, like...you want to set up a table, make it all fancy, have some hot tea, and have quite a wonderful discussion about the weather and things with it, Chris? Do that on your own time. This is my time...you're just here to tell me what the hell it says whenever it does that type of shit.
[HYDE] [sighs] Mike...if you don't shoot them or shout at them or drag them bleeding from a gunfight you started where all the people they knew who may have been their friends died, or were dragged off themselves, then maybe we can find ways to make contact with some of them, and try to talk to them.
[MORETTI] I started?! [laughs] You think I started that gunfight with them? Really? Let me explain something to you, Chris. When someone or something is trying to kill you, then they are the enemy, and you fire back at them, and kill them before they can kill you. Now, I know that you're a nerd and don't understand that, but that's war. It survived, surrendered, and we brought it back up here to have it fix up since the doctor has actually been studying alien bodies. Then the captain ordered me and you to interrogate the prisoner because that's what we do.
[HYDE] But what about her friends?
[MORETTI] WHAT ABOUT THEM, CHRIS? I don't CARE about these damn aliens.
[HYDE] Can't you just take a moment to think about what I said? We can learn so much from each other if you just talk to them. Dialogue can do a lot more than fighting.
[MORETTI] I'm fully aware of that. But I don't think you understand that the Covenant do not want to talk to us. I mean, look at them. They think we're desecrating these Forerunner places with our damn footsteps because all of them are [expletive]ing psychotic religious nutcases wanting to annihilate every human being out there.
[HYDE] Not all of them think that way. That's why we see the Kig-Yar trying to deal with the Innies.
[MORETTI] Yeah, sure. The enemy is dealing with another of our enemies, while we just use them both to get what we want.
[HYDE] It's wrong to use them...
[MORETTI] Who? The Kig-Yar or the Innies?
[HYDE] Well, both, but...the Kig-Yar mostly. There's a lot of them who are just merchants and want to trade and have peace with our race. And we're just using them for our advantage to get what we want.
[MORETTI] I don't care...at all.
[HAYDEN] Again with the fighting, boys? Do I have to send someone in to separate you two for a while until you both cool off? Some of the other agents on board would have finished talking to SUBJECT 128 by now.
[SUBJECT 128] I...I am not as fanatical as the others. I was only doing what I was told to do, and having to report that humans were touching Forerunner artifacts would make those who I work for angry. Some of my people...we're trying to flee the Covenant, but it is extremely hard in doing so. Those who flee, are branded as heretics, and are disemboweled and hung by our entrails for all to see as a warning committing such acts. [cheeps] [unintelligible]
[HYDE] She's scared...worried if she goes back.
[MORETTI] Then don't?
[SUBJECT 128] I will go back when you let me go, despite what happened. I failed my mission...my leader is dead, as well as my friends. They will have my feathers, for sure. Especially when they find out about you humans, but I am not afraid of the consequences.
[MORETTI] They won't.
[SUBJECT 128] [cheeps] They...won't?
[MORETTI] You have anything more to tell us?
[SUBJECT 128] No, that is it. Will you release me now?
[MORETTI] Yeah...
[HYDE] Wait...I would like to -
[MORETTI] [loud gunshot echoes into the recorder]
[HYDE] WHAT THE [expletive], MAN? MIKE?!
[MORETTI] What?
[HYDE] Why did you do that? Why did you [expletive]ing kill her?
[MORETTI] Because those were my orders. Captain Merinkov wanted it terminated if it didn't have anything else to say. It was never his intention, or mine, to release it.
[HYDE] I wish you didn't. We could have continued speaking to her...we could've found a way to -
[MORETTI] Oh, not this again...don't start this, alright, Chris? I had my orders. Deal with it.
[HAYDEN] SUBJECT 128's vital signs are gone, due to a gun shot to the head, which has killed it instantly. The doctor will be in here shortly to confirm the death.
[HYDE] [mutters as he storms out of the room]
[MORETTI] [expletive]...[stares down at the deceased T'vaoan, and then slowly reaches over to close her dead eyes] After the doctor comes in here and does his thing, have someone clean this shit up...[steps away and slowly leaves the room as well]
[HAYDEN] Will do.
