CPO SPARTAN-009, codename “Deadeye” UNSC Military Training Facility ‘Argus’ Mock Town The Spartan Opfor was a whirlwind of activity at the Argus training town, liberally renovating it to suit their strategy in a frentic scramble to prepare for the opposing Red team’s looming arrival. Everyone pitched in, focusing their efforts. With precious little time to get ready, the work wasn’t pretty by any standards. In fact, what they basically accomplished was to thoroughly trash the place and make a big mess. But at least now it was a more defensible mess, and that’s all that mattered. Silas slapped one final slab of torn-down plywood wall onto a long barricade of similar materials before glancing at his wrist. His chrono indicated that roughly ten minutes had passed – the opposition should be starting their journey here right about now. “ Ox, Smokey, get started on phase three, double time,” he announced. “ Echo and I will finish up here.” As the team shifted gears, Silas evaluated the progress of their fortifications. Frankly, he was rather impressed with how much they managed to accomplish already, and it was all due to tight-knit teamwork. After the initial surge into the center of the town, Silas had continued to gather recourses that Dani then laid out under Roy’s direction, who then proceeded to hastily assemble it. The result was some spots of cover just big enough to duck behind scattered all around the flagpole, and two barricades that blocked off the north side and south side of the town square respectively. Meanwhile, Courtney had been busy setting paint mines along the edge of town. Overall, these minimum defensive measures were a decent start. Not ideal, but better than nothing given the circumstances. There was still work to be done though. Silas was convinced that with a little extra effort, a few finishing touches could help even the odds, keenly aware that they were running out of time…

UNSC Military base Argus Roy-001 Roy finished his work and sat back, starring over the wooded base they had made in such little time. In truth, it was not built for him, it was built for the smaller Silas and Courtney, where Roy would have had to crouch to get cover. Either way, he and Dani had a job to do. “Ox, Smokey, get started on phase three, double time, Echo and I will finish up here.”Roy rose to his feet and flung the heavy duffle over his shoulder, looking to Dani to verify that she was ready to move. Once they were set he took off at a jog, letting Dani take the lead into the woods. He let her take the lead, knowing she was faster and had better sight, and he preferred to take up the rear. Roy scooped the dufflebag off of Dani's shoulder and slung it over his, her's being considerably lighter than his own. Roy had to adjust himself so he could move at a decent speed, but also not rattle all the equipment like a one man band. Roy didn't know what was in her pack, but he did know what was in his pack, and it gave him an idea. Either way, he moved into the woods and drew the knife from his thigh, the only lethal tool in his arsenal. He began to cut saplings and branches to the proper size for the traps he had in mind. There were two major paths into the mock town, both of them heading in to become the main 'road' in the town. Roy waited for Dani to cover him before he began to set his trap.

Dani-047 Gold Two UNSC Military Training Facility ‘Argus’ Over the river and through the woods... Time was of the essence, that much was made clear to the Spartans before they had landed. As far as Dani was concerned, her and Gold Three's role in the mock mission was of the up most importance. Barriers around a flag in a clearing where good, defenses were always practical. If it had been up to Dani the two would have stalked off into the treeline, and simply picked off all those concerned from the bush. That, though, was impractical in the sense that if any had gotten to the fortification, Gold One and Four would have had a more difficult time handling them out of armor.
Silas did not expect a loss, so all precautions had to be taken to ensure Gold One's expectations were met. Dani kept this in mind, as Silas voice blared out over the comms unit in her ear. “Ox, Smokey, get started on phase three, double time. Echo and I will finish up here.” Phase three, the sound of the order rolling from comms almost had Dani licking her lips in anticipation. Blood rushed to her ears and she felt the adrenaline course through her veins. Twitch. Her trigger finger ticked, not enough to set off her BR, but enough to remind her of the task at hand.
"Affirmative, Dead Eye. Smokey and Ox dispatching to begin phase three." Stated Dani into comms, already moving toward the treeline with Roy in tow. He moved to pick up her duffle bag, and without little comment Dani allowed him to. With her BR slung to her back, she continued to move forward. Phase three included many things, and Roy started at the top of his list by slicing at saplings. Ever vigilant on the wrld around her, the Spartan reached back and took her BR in hand, keeping it ready for anything large enough to cause a disturbance near by. "Wonder how many they will bring out." Dani mused, panning her gaze along the brush and trees around them.

(OOC: With Alpha not posting as his Corpsman, I am assuming NPC control. He'll be sticking around me for now, I guess.) First Lieutenant Kyle Killinger UNSC Military Training Facility 'Argus' Reach By now, Alpha Team had meshed into the tree line as Bravo Team went for the hill to the units three o'clock. He pointed towards the Corporal and Private with his fingers and signaled he wanted to move up in groups of two, roughly twenty meters apart. The group with be in a standard wedge combat formation. He felt that, if they were moving in groups of two, they were more spread out but not compromised in combat capability. Kyle moved forward and crouched behind a large tree trunk, leaned to the left and brought out his binoculars to scan the area ahead. It looked still, other than the frequent oddly looking birds on Reach flying through the forest of some of the wildlife. Unfortunately, do the dense nature, he couldn't see to far. "Okay, Alpha, let's move up - slowly. Bravo, you on our flank yet?"

Staff Sergeant Kai (Wolf) BlacklockUNSC Military Base 'Argus'Kai walked with his rifle slung over his shoulder and his sidearm drawn, his sniper was useless in this dense forestry. He moved up ahead of the rest of Alpha, scouting and making sure there were no surprises awaiting the rest of the team, he moved forwards so he could still see the rest of Alpha.
He saw a clearing nearly a kilometre away and pulled up his rifle to scope the clearing. "Lieutenant" Kai said seeing a blue flag waving around in the air surrounded by mock buildings, "Objective sighted, no sign of enemy movement, you may want to see this for yourself, Sir" Kai finished cutting off comms from his helmet.

Private Samuel Murray UNSC Military Training Facility ‘Argus’ Double Team Samuel's eyes darted left and right as he began to trek into the treeline. He stopped as he glanced back towards the Leader. He watched as the El-tee gave him and the ODST a quick hand gesture to move ahead. He gave a quick nod and turned towards the ODST, "The name's Sam," he whispered in his scottish accent. He then lowered his rifle as he began to maneuver through the thick bramble and roots. He wasn't sure how far they had maneuvered, but there were still no enemy combatants. Could this be a military hike or something special? Sam shrugged off the thoughts and kept his focus on the objective. He thought he saw the edge of the treeline, but it seemed a bit off into the distance. He motioned for the ODST to cover him as he glanced back towards his Squad Leader and the Corpsmen-giving them a motion that the area around him was clear. Though he felt that wouldn't last for long.

SPARTAN-II Courtney-021, GOLD-IV. "Echo" UNSC Military training Facility 'Argus'. Reach. Defending the base. Courtney finished placing the mines and moved back over to her rifle, picking it up carefully and slipping the sling over her shoulder. There was some finishing touches she needed to do, but a lot of the main fortifications were done. There was plenty of cover for her smaller form, but it wasn't the best firing position. She finished up her fortifications by placing a few mines near the flag, waving Silas down, and pointing them out so that he wouldn't step on them. She then had a clever idea and moved over to a wall on the second floor. She smashed her foot through it at the bottom, then began using her elbow, much like the others, to carve three pieces of debris. Once satisfied that she could see the flag post from the back wall she hauled the pieces over and angled them just so that they covered her while she sat in the sitting shooting position. She then activated her COM. "Ready." she whispered, in the tiniest way.

Captain John Stonebridge UNSC Military Training Facility 'Argus' ReachBravo Team moved up to the mound of the hill located by the edge of the tree line. As the squad neared the mound John looked slightly to the left to scan the trees. Everything from what he could see looked clear, but John knew anyone could be hidden easily in those woods so it didnt really matter. The squad approached the mound and John signalled the squad to hold up. Aiming to his eyes then to the tree line to basically signal his squad to keep an eye on the tree line.
"Eyes peeled Bravo." John said silently. John looked to the left and noticed Alpha Squad nearing the tree line on the left hand side. As John looked forward again the Alpha Squad Leader spoke.
"Bravo, you on our flank yet?" "We are in position Alpha, we have a visual on your squad. The tree line looks clear. I suggest you move in with your squad first whilst we cover you then we will move in whilst you cover us. Bravo out." John awaited to see if the Alpha Squad Leader did as he suggested.

HN Samantha Jackson UNSC Military Training Facility 'Argus' Reach Samantha's mechanical hand tightened on her rifle as she exited the Pelican with everyone else, the tall came up to her knee, out of the corner of her eye she saw one of the ODST's in special armor kneel down and look around. Stonebridge did not waste anytime after the Pelican was unloaded to give Bravo squad a new batch of orders, "Bravo team move up to the bottom of the hill." his voice was quiet, but she heard him. Turning on her heel she followed the squad as the headed to the base of a nearby hill, still no sign of the enemy forces that Ryker had warned them about. The ODST's around her did not seem to be all that nervous, yes Jackson herself was anxious but she was always like that. Especially recently. She found her mind wandering and made it a point to focus her attention back to the job at hand, watching the treeline as Alpha squad moved in.

First Lieutenant Kyle Killinger Kyle shuffled under a shrug, scanning the dense forest yet once again. His rifle was slung across his back and his team was close by. Regardless, he was listening in for anything he could hear. Branches snapping, birds shuffling away because they were startled or even 'boo' as he was killed from above. It was the fact that he didn't hear anything that kept the suspense tight. " Staff Sergeant, sit-rep. I can't come see it so I need you to tell me what you see. You're our eyes up there." Kyle said, crawling out of the shrub.

Staff Sergeant Kai (Wolf) BlacklockKai looked down once again through his scope, "Ok enemy base is what's left of a few mock building that seem to have been torn down and made into barricades, enemy flag is located near the centre, no sign of movement but I am too low see enemy numbers." He said into his helmet as he scanned the surrounding areas, "Advise that Bravo heads west around the town for a flanking manoeuvre, sir, I can provide cover on a ridge to the east for covering fire and calling out positions and advising both teams, Over"

ONI Field Agent LT Mike Moretti UNSC Military Training Facility 'Argus' Reach He slowly followed the rest of Bravo team, scanning the treeline and staying low once more. He sighed when he heard Hyde respond to him. <"Fine, aliens are a dumb answer...but why the 'eff would it be Spartans? Shouldn't they be off fighting rather than taking time out of that schedule to kick the shit out of us?...That would explain the stickers though, shit."><"Oh, you know. Everyone deserves a bit of R and R every once in a while,"> He answered with bitter amusement, while keeping an eye out for any enemy movement. <"Nothing beats a vacation, like a Spartan vacation...beating the shit out of regular marines, ODSTs, and ONI agents, possibly breaking bones, and sending all of us to the medical center for a number of weeks. Or..."> He trailed off, glancing over at where Hyde was located, and said with a smirk, <"Or sending you out for a number of months."> He chuckled lightly, shaking his head a bit. <"I'm just kidding."> A long pause followed until he added, <"Years.">"Eyes peeled Bravo." He overheard Stonebridge say to them as he switched back to the other channel after he was finished talking privately with Hyde. "Copy that, Captain," He whispered and waited there in an alert silence as he continued to watch the tree line.

Corporal David Kabruski
UNSC Military Training Facility 'Argus'
Reach
As orders were called out and executed, David stayed where he was, Silently sweeping the area with his MA5B. This wasn't his first rodeo and he knew the signs of what to look and listen for. Branches snapping, The ceasing of crickets, That kind of thing. He also knew enough to make sure that his breathing was controlled and measured as he could give away his position with a cough or a snort.
Then, the Private turned to him and whispered in thick Scottish accent "The names Sam."
Before David could put a finger to his helmet where his lips would be, the Private then crouched further into the bramble but not before making a signal for David to watch his back. David rolled his eyes. What part of no unneccessary commo in a hostile environment did he not get beaten into in boot? It grinded him because he had seen soldiers killed because of it. He resolved to keep a close eye on this private. Before he got himself killed.

ONI Agent Hyde 'Argus' Facility, Reach. Getting a handle on the worry..
"Keep talking Mike, maybe they will gravitate toward your jibes and get you first." Hyde answered back whilst also sticking his tongue out a little in his helmet and bobbing it side to side as he made a few faces. Most of it just to try and calm his nerves so he wouldn't make a stupid mistake. It was doing the job so far as he was still in formation with his weapon up and ready, but if it was Spartans and they could smell fear they would see in Hyde for sure.
As Captain Stonebridge had requested Chris was keeping his eyes peeled, not wanting the possibly Spartan enemies to leaps out of the bush and like...push him over or something. He had seen recordings from their helmet cams for what they had done to Sangheili and other Covenant and heard first hand what it was like from them to fight the enemy. He kept trying to tell himself that they wouldn't see him as a Kig-Yar who stole some ONI armor or anything like that but...NO
Stretching a bit he brought his weapon back up and held it firmly but not too tightly as he scanned and moved up. He knew the Spartans probably better than anyone else here, he knew that they were Human and had Humanity at their heart. There was nothing to worry about, nothing.
"See anything Mike? Enemy or the mock town where we need to take the flag from? It should be visible by now, though they probably have traps." He asked Mike, most of the worry gone from his voice before switching channel over to Stonebridge.
"Nothing yet Captain, no sign of the Contacts or the town."

Hospital Corpsman Second Class Mark Phillips UNSC Military Training Facility "Argus" Reach Mark bailed out of the Pelican as it touched down and stuck close to his squad leader. As they crept closer to the objective, he grew more careful, his rifle held at the ready. He was close behind Killinger, ducking around the shrub as Killinger went under. Pausing behind a tree, Mark scanned ahead to see if he could see the edge yet.

CPO SPARTAN-009, codename “Deadeye” UNSC Military Training Facility ‘Argus’ Mock Town With his back pressed against the wall, Silas took care to ever so slowly peek a sideways glance out of the improvised "window" beside him. With so many holes torn out from most of the buildings, it would undoubtedly be a nightmare for the approaching Red team, having to deal with the possibility that someone could pop out from any of the openings at any time. Silas liked that. The more divided the opponents' attention was, the easier it would be to get the drop on them. Assuming, of course, that anybody made it past Dani and Roy. The SPARTAN was hiding within one of the inner buildings close to the flag, watching and waiting. He kept alert, expecting something to happen at any moment, and made sure he was ready to react when it finally does. For now, he refrained from moving around outside and exposing himself to enemy view. Earlier, he had laid out lengths of rope across the ground in the center of town, with one end connected to various "surprises" set out during the fortification phase. The other end of the ropes he delivered to Courtney bunkered up within her plywood shelter, so that she had remote access from her stationary position. And to throw off anybody inspecting the ropes to see where they led to, Silas had put down a number of decoy ropes as well stretching between random points. But now, it was a waiting game. " Ox..." he whispered into his earpiece. "What's your status? See anything yet out there?"

UNSC Military base Argus Roy-001 Roy had already opened his duffle and taken out his toy. It was an M247, set up with a tri pod that could be dug into the dirt. He had it so with the flip of a pin he could be on the move, his large size could handle carrying the LMG like a rifle. Roy had positioned himself so that his back was to a tree, and he had thick forest cover. He was position away from the trail, so that it would be harder for them to pin point him, but he also had set the trail up so that they would either be forced to stop and disable his trap, or get caught in it. He also had followed traditional doctrine of setting two snares, one hidden, and one in the open. They were all set to quite large trees, so weight wouldn't be an issue. Roy could hear, in the distance, the sound of marines trying to move silently. His trained and enhanced sense of sound could pick them up much before they would be within visual, but even so, he didn't have a very good line of site to his traps, just a few holes in the tree line. Either way he pulled back the charging lever, hearing the paint round slide into place. He winced as the falling sun finally caught his eyes, spearing through the over head branches. He reached into his satchel and pulled out a pair of classic styled aviators, flipping them open and slipping them on. "Ox...What's your status? See anything yet out there?"
Roy flipped on his end of the com, having to manually do it with his hand was odd for him. "Contacts, closing..." he whispered, crouching low and shouldering the LMG. His finger hesitated over the trigger, he waited until they crossed in front of him before finally exhaling. His LMG suddenly came to life, spitting paint round into their group. He fired a horizontal line into them, making sure that he was ready to dive for cover when the time came.

Dani-047 UNSC Military Base Argus In a TreeDani could hear them as well as Roy, but she was a bit put off by the fact that he seemed to be moving through the motions without her. She had stood guard while he fiddled with his snares and traps. Now that he was setting up his massive gun, he seemed to have blocked out her positions completely. It wouldn't have been such an odd occurrence for anyone outside of their duo, but it made her slightly uneasy. That didn't help, as her pre-battle jitters began to take new heights. She had to restrain herself though, this was a training exercise. Dani knew what happened to normal humans when put in training exercises with unrestrained Spartans. The slightest displacement of undergrowth along the forest floor signaled the approach of a team of Marines. With only a moments hesitation, as to take in the view of thick foliage around her, Dani grabbed the lowest branch of the nearest leaf consumed tree. With Roy below, he would be ample enough shock to anyone passing by. Dani herself needed to be the last tap on that double surprise. She had to remain hidden in the thick leaves, especially if Roy was compromised. Slinging her BR once again on her back, Dani placed her right foot at the base of the thick tree trunk. She tested her weight on the branch she had grabbed, yanking back on it a few times before she became satisfied with its ability to bear weight. From there, the Spartan began to haul herself up into the tree. Leaves slapped against her face as she made her way forward. This wasn't an annoyance as much as it was a blessing. Camouflage did wonders for Spartans, and she doubted any Marines passing below would spot her, that is until she made her position known. The smallest of sighs escaped her lips as she climbed toward the core of the tree, becoming absolutely still as to wait for Roy's move. He himself was down below, finishing the final steps to set up his weapon. Silas' voice briefly came over the comms line, and Roy's response was just as brisk. It was almost time then. Carefully, the Spartan un-slung her BR, and trained it through the leaves to the forest floor below. Roy hid in his spot, and Dani hid in hers. If one looked hard enough toward her tree, they would see the barrel of her rifle poking out among the thick cover of leaves. Again, she doubted that it would be noticed, especially when counting for what Roy had in store below. Jumping a bit at the sudden eruption of paint fire, Dani trained her BR toward the chaos below. She would not fire yet, instead, she would wait like an eagle ready to scoop an unsuspecting fish from a lake. (So uh TinCanHitman , which team is being fired at? Or are they all one team now?)
